I

I'm a mid-week child
Born on a wednesday morning
Amidst muffled moans and groans
A mother hiding from her children
"but mother why didnt you call me
You know I'm a midwife"

I'm a village child
Born in a rondavel
Among clay pots and soot
"Hey, mother where is your baby
This looks like blankets only"

I am a child of the revolution
Born amongst good and evil
A fight known to last eternity
"What shall we call her, what shall we call her
We will call her the beautiful queen"

I am a child of the universe
Born in this merciless earth
A gift from God
"You are gonna make girl
Look you made it"

Procastination

Later
A friend
A companion
A safe shade
From when-probing-questions
I'm sure I'll do it
I'm sure I'll have time
I'll squeeze you in
Later
A safety pin
An immediate answer
A too-many-questions swatter

The Day She Came

She had a song
Humming through the busy of the day
A message
Buzzing through the warmth of the day
God reigns, He reigns

Heart, like a baking oven
Warm and expecting
Assurance
God reigns, He just reigns

Knowledge splashed out and gazzeled
Like a long suppressed fountain
Wisdom spilled out
Fresh and pure

God reigns, He just does
A rhythm through out the day
Thumping like a vein on a hot summers' day
He will finish what He started

MAMA

I have seen you come and go
Heard you wonder about
Felt the thickness of your presence

They spoke of you
I listened
They sang your songs
I joined in

I dreamt of you
And felt like I've known you
I have always known you

I knew you for those nine months
Knew you for and 4 years 9 months
I've known fo another 26 years

I may not know your smell
But I have felt your presence
I may forgotten your touch
But I might have heard you exhale
